Cold, Flu and ..... Strep Throat Season!

I tell you what it has been a pretty tough few months for us.

Toby has pretty much been sick for the last 4 months.  He has been graced with the stomach flu at least 4 times.  He has had croup and laryngitis at least 2 times and he had 2 massive ear infections over Christmas.  The antibiotics he got for his ears lead to a terrible yeast infection that took at least 2 weeks to clear up and he still has scars on his legs from it.  Bless his heart.  Today's doctor visit ended up with a diagnosis of Croup/laryngitis again but this time with a possible strep throat to go along with it.  One good piece of good news... His ears were clear.  So we are back on an antibiotic.  This time the drug of choice is Zythromax since we have discovered that he is allergic to Augmentin, Amoxil and Asprin.

Hunter has charged through and managed not to miss much school.  I know he has had a couple or rounds of the stomach flu but never really said anything to me about having problems in the bathroom until he was better.  He and Toby have had a couple of bouts the upchucks and for that they both missed school.  Hunter now has strep throat.  Poor thing probably got it from me as I had it last week.  He has been such a trooper.  He didn't say much to me about feeling bad until Thomas started complaining with the chills (which I had last week) last night.  Then all of a sudden Hunter was cold and couldn't get warm, complained of a headache, stoppy nose and a soar throat.  I checked his temp this AM but he was normal.  Low and behold a visit to see Dr. Baliga with both the boys later and well ... the strep test came back positive.  He is now on Amoxil.

Thomas is at home in the bed.  He went to work this AM and I guess they sent him home.  When I ran by the house this AM I was surprised to find him there.  He was wrapped up in the bed shivering and sweating like a mule.  His temp was at least 102 but he won't go to the Dr.  He has really been working hard to prove that he deserves to be hired permanent at Hospira and trying to make as much overtime as he can to help us financially.

With all the sickness, time off from work, Dr. Apts and medication we have really gotten off budget with unexpected costs.  Thomas's 401K money has run out and things are really getting tight.  Please pray for us and that God will heal us and get us back on the right track.  Right now it just seams like we can't catch a break.
